I am supremely enjoying the process of watching on DVD a mini-series (hugely long... 29 PARTS!) called "House of Elliot."
A friend of my grandparents introduced it to them and now they have introduced it to me. I am forewarned that the show was ended prematurely because of expense of filming, and I'm not surprised. The 1920's vehicles, areas and clothing could not have been very cheap.
The story is about two sisters, Beatrice & Evelyn Elliot (Evey is on the left and Bea on the right) whose overtly strict and dictator father dies at the very beginning, leaving them with almost nothing. Deprived from any society or education to help them be independent, they have to be inventive and find ways to take care of themselves. All this while being against the odds with a second cousin (Arthur) and great Aunt (Lydia) who are determined to keep them at the level in society that they are, and nowhere better.

My favorite aspect of it (aside from some romance that I always enjoy) is when they get back up from a particularly rotten string of events. They're so positive and forward-looking, it's a pleasure to see their encouragement of each other. :)
I won't ruin it by going on, but if there's any desire in you to watch a little of something long (that's based on a true story) every day, I highly recommend this series.
